Actually a lot of my inspiriation comes from California. I visit Santa Cruz every year to see my parents. My mother does a lot of volunteer work at the UCSC Arboretum, so a lot of my images come from there. (Including the "friggin' hummingbird"!) I envy your wildflower trip. It would be fun to meet when I go out sometime! It lists hundreds of > B&B's with rates. Thanks for the suggestion, but a B&B most likely will require a car and I won't have one. I also never stayed in a B&B before and I'm not sure I'm up for that this trip. I'm not terribly outgoing, and the idea of staying in a stranger's home is a little daunting to me. The whole thing just got more complicated today, unfortunately, too, because as I was preparing to change a lightbulb I fell and caused considerable damage to one lower leg. I got new glasses last week which bumped up the diopters and the astigmatic correction considerably, thought I was over the resultant visual miscues but apparently not. :-( Don't think anything is broken, but I've re-injured an achilles tendon and maybe some more miscellaneous parts. Spent most of the day on ice, probably will call the doctor tomorrow. Just showing up with the current plans looks challenging enough right now, with my "luck of the Irish" in full swing, I'm not planning to make *any* changes right now. :-) Sheryl Coppenger ------------------------------ From: Ray Esposito Date: Sun, 05 Jul 1998 22:56:32 -0400 Subject: [Baren 1079] Re: Try a B&B Sheryl wrote: >Thanks for the suggestion, but a B&B most likely will require a car and I >won't have one. ... First, don't let the lack of a car deter you. Many B&B's offer airport pickup. Second, one of the wonderful things about B&B's is you can be a recluse or you can join in. If you prefer to just sit quiet thru breakfast, do so and let everyone else do the talking. A B&B is a lot more pleasant than a sterile hotel. Ugh. Besides, you need the practice for the day you visit Graham and Marnie Scholes. Staying with Marnie will be like staying with a dear friend. Having to put up with Graham may not be worth the price but prehaps you could demand a refund for bravery above and beyond... >The whole thing just got more complicated today, unfortunately, too, >because as I was preparing to change a lightbulb I fell and caused >considerable damage to one lower leg. Ouch!! That hurts just reading about it. Hope it isn't serious and you are well enough for your trip.
