Baren Digest Friday, 18 December 1998 Volume 05 : Number 381 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: "Roger A. Ball" Date: Thu, 17 Dec 1998 08:38:03 -0700 Subject: [Baren 2380] Couple of things Hello. Can't recall who mentioned it, but let's bring up the "blurb" sheet again for the exchange. I think we should make a small sheet to enclose with each print: Name of work, artist, HOW TO CONTACT ARTIST BY PHONE, EMAIL and SNAILMAIL, small description of process, paper, number of impressions and blocks, number of editions, and that sort of junk. I think it should NOT be attached to the print. Others thoughts? As was also mentioned previously, Elmer's normal, regular glue will repair ply and be much stronger than the original glue. Doesn't matter if it gets quite wet. It will only fall apart when soaked long-term. Of course, Elmer's Carpenter glue is stronger. The Elmer's PASTE that I use to glue my drawing on the block is weak and very susceptible to water--that's why I use it for the drawing. For the little repairs that I do and the short runs that I print, Normal Elmer's works dandy for fixing those boo-boos and I can verify fairly long-term holding power even when printing with watercolor. That will answer a lot of questions that I am sure will be asked on the Baren, 29 of them. Thanks for sharing your progress with us. (This entry here is necessary so that Dave won't get toooo upset with me for the long non-printmaking related topics I been writing about ). But seriously, Roger, your print is looking good! ------------------------------ (off-topic posts deleted) ------------------------------ From: April Vollmer/John Yamaguchi Date: Thu, 17 Dec 1998 23:25:44 -0400 Subject: [Baren 2386] certificate of authenticity So, Ray, perhaps you could supply us with a sample certificate of authenticity? The ones I've seen are way too much, with a lot of information that just isn't applicable to artist-made prints. I have heard that these certificates are getting more common. I'd love to have some sort of simple version. Any suggestions? Wanda, thank you for the elucidation on the family histories! I hope you enjoy my article in Printmaking Today, it was difficult to simplify things down to two pages. DISCLAIMER: I disown the reproduction of my print, however, it is really washed out. http://www.ulster.net/~vollmerf/april/pic_hanga/sunset.html is the same print on my web page, with much better color. I better get back in the studio, time is running out for our exchange! I'm doing the last cutting corrections to the blocks now.
