April I stole the one from Graham's site at http://www.islandnet.com/~gscholes/ It is one of the best I have seen. ------------------------------ From: "Roger A. I took a long gander at it yesterday and thought that for the most part, everything I'm after is covered there. Perhaps we can use it as a base and include other info as desired by the most exchangers... I must admit to being continually amazed at the art as well as the depth, thoroughness and helpfulness of Graham's site. Thanks to Julio for comments, comedy and continuing to muddy the formalness of our (un)usually windy diatribes. Here's to the weekend! Joy to you, - --Roger ------------------------------ From: Graham Scholes Date: Fri, 18 Dec 1998 08:38:07 -0800 Subject: [Baren 2390] Re: Cert of Auth Roger wrote.... >I was going to suggest that we use your Cert as an example. Take something like the certificate can be modified and personalize. AND >I must admit to being continually amazed at the art as well as the depth, >thoroughness and helpfulness of Graham's site. Thanks for the vote of confidence. I is interesting to see the number of art related sites that are now using the horizontal positioning of art in their sites. When I designed this I was told that it could not be done. It took many hours of frigin around I got it to work smoothly. And NO it has nothing to do with my newly-inherited large family. I was changing channels last night when I came across a movie on HBO (very late at night!), this was an "R" rated flic with much nudity and sexual connotations. It was a mystery /drama about a scamming set of twins who are taking this poor guy for a ride and setting him up as the patsy on a big score. Anyways; at one point the guy and one of the twins are in a hotel bedroom and after a long passionate session of lovemaking they turn toward a print hanging on the wall across the room and start discussing it's artistic merits for several minutes. The print is/was Hokusai's very famous "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" which shows a huge wave about to swamp a boat of japanese fishermen with Mt. Fuji in the background. The man in the movie asks the twin wether she thinks the print is "chinese" or "Japanese" ?. Then they go on to discuss such things as the "tentacles" of surf coming off the wave (how they look like fingers grasping at the japanese men), the "look" on the fishermen faces as accepting their destiny and not one of fear, etc, etc.......quite a critique ( for an "R" movie!) Later on the man becomes infatuated with this woman and recreates the hotel room down to the exact details in his own house with the hope of attracting her back to him. Of course Hokusai's print again hangs on the wall across the room. What an unexpected place to get a "lesson" on Japanese print art ! Perhaps the writer, director or producers were/are connoisseurs. Cha, chao for now.
