Baren Digest Tuesday, 22 December 1998 Volume 05 : Number 385 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: David Bull Date: Tue, 22 Dec 1998 00:18:18 +0900 Subject: [Baren 2395] A quick note ... Let's see ... do I remember the proper address for sending a post to [Baren]? It's been so long ... Sorry to ignore everybody this week, and I see some questions that need answering, but they will have to wait a bit. It's been an insane week of printing and interviews, sometimes both at the same time. Newspapers, magazines, TV ... After a very slow start to the P/R stuff, it has now exploded, and it looks like the exhibition may really be quite well attended after all. Whether or not that will result in many orders is something else again, but we'll just have to wait and see. I had sort of had the impression that the filming on the documentary program was pretty much wrapped up, but I was wrong. They are now really 'digging in'. They have even rented one of the other apartments in this same building to use as a temporary studio and work space. Occasionally as I am working, I hear the front door opening gently, and in they come ... Nobody speaks; I pretend that they are invisible, and just go about my work. The producer sometimes prompts me with a quiet question about something, and I talk and explain what I am doing ... speaking to nobody in particular. It's hard to calculate, but I would have to guess that they now have well over a hundred hours of tape in the can - all for a one hour program. I'm going to be a lot more nervous watching it next year, than I've been while we are making it! *** But the real reason I wanted to send a post this evening ... My girls came in from Vancouver this afternoon, and the printing of the last colour of the last print in the series is set to start at 1:00 tomorrow afternoon. It seems hard to believe that I'm here at last ... Dave ------------------------------ From: Wanda Robertson Date: Mon, 21 Dec 1998 10:15:20 -0700 Subject: [Baren 2396] Re: A quick note ... Well, Dave, you know that we are all happy and excited for you, don't you? It is almost as good as being there, getting to hear about the filming and the publicity and everything. How wonderful that your girls are there with you at this time, too. They must be really proud of their Dad. It would be really great if the Public Broadcasting stations in this country would pick up the program (and dub it with English for us non- Japanese speakers) and show it over here too. Good luck & best wishes for lots of orders! I know we discussed this a while back........Did anything come out of the discussion ? Are we going to create some extra sets just in case we want to put them on "hold" or for display somewhere later ? ------------------------------ From: Julio.Rodriguez@walgreens.com Date: Mon, 21 Dec 1998 16:10:33 -0600 Subject: [Baren 2398] re: number of prints for exchange, part 2 I meant to add....... How about one extra set to stay here in the states and one set to go to Japan. Perhaps James & Dave can hold onto these for future considerations.........public showings, etc. By the way...... Where is Daniel ????? Has he dropped out from the group ? Or are you lurking ? ------------------------------ From: "Ray Esposito" Date: Mon, 21 Dec 1998 19:03:44 -0500 Subject: [Baren 2399] Re: number of prints for exchange, part 2 Julio wrote: >How about one extra set to stay here in the states and one set to go to >Japan. Julio This idea was rejected. I see no reason to rehast everything now but I for one am against it and I believe most of the others were. If I am in error they can speak for themselves but it is not an idea I would support. Your helpful suggestions are welcomed. Jean ------------------------------ End of Baren Digest V5 #385 ***************************
