If all of them are not needed you will have a couple extras as gifts or to sell. I am doing an edition of 35. Cheers Ray ------------------------------ From: Jean Eger Date: Fri, 25 Dec 1998 10:09:48 -0800 Subject: [Baren 2424] Re: Baren Digest V5 #388 Merry Christmas to all Bareners and lurkers. We had a Christmas eve "waifs and orphans" party here yesterday, for our friends and acquaintances who are not with family this year. Some were pleased to receive prints as Christmas gifts. So I guess I'll have to start keeping better records and have a certificate of authenticity (as was recently urged by one of my local printmaking pals). That will be my New Year resolution. Ray, would you mind rehashing your reasons for not wanting more prints for archives, etc? It will be a wonderful record of an historic moment--the first online print exchange! However, as an uncurated, unjuried aesthetic event, it might not be our best effort. No doubt that I could do better if I was working in my accustomed medium, rather than stretching myself to try the traditional rice-paste method. Graham and Gayle are also out (right ?). Don't know who else, but I thought there was one more missing in action. I think Haydee Landing came onboard after that.....taking Eliza's place.... are you out there Haydee ? For those outhere that might be taken back by the quality of work putout by the established printmakers onboard; please do not discourage ! I know when I look at my work it does not compare in technique with what others are doing. Yet I want to contribute in the exchange regardless. It's a very special chance for the Baren family to get together and share in each others work/love, regardless of what stage you are at !!!!!. So please don't drop out just because you feel your print may not measure up, perhaps what one print lacks in technique it may surpass in other facets. I must agree with Ray here, send in the original 29 prints and let's see what happens. I probably will also print somewhere between 30-40 prints. With the number of members dropping out....there will probably be some extras for James to resolve. Then again, my uncle Fred says he would be happy to join in and take the place of the missing in action. He has many of his very own prints that he can contribute. Most of them revolve around his passion for avocados. Just a thought ! ps. Opened presents at the in-laws last night (got home after 1:30am), opened presents at home under the tree this morning, now on to my sisters for another family gathering and more boxes to open. Enjoy the holidays everyone! ------------------------------ End of Baren Digest V5 #389 ***************************
