Bea Gold Hi Bea - Dieu Donne is close to the Soho area of NY - near a number of galleries, etc. and near great Canal St. bargain shopping, Pearl Paint (a huge supermarket of an art supply store), and a cool Chinese dept. store called Pearl River. Dieu Donne is an interesting place in itself - I have done work exchange off & on there over the past couple of years - they're dedicated to hand papermaking as an art, & offer paper-making & other related classes - recently I took a class there in Japanese paper-making (which included cleaning & cooking the fibers & beating them by hand w/mallets!) - really makes you appreciate the paper! - All the best, Sarah ------------------------------ From: Cucamongie@aol.com Date: Thu, 4 Mar 1999 08:18:16 EST Subject: [Baren 3366] My Neighbor Totoro I finally had a chance to check out the video that people have mentioned, "My Neighbor Totoro." The artwork is interesting - quite detailed backgrounds compared to most 2-D animation that I've seen - and the characters (especially the Totoro characters!) are charming. And that catbus!!!!! (I won't say any more!!) Definitely worth a look for those of you who haven't seen it - I have a question which perhaps one of you folks that lives in Japan can answer. Why are the eyes on people in Japanese animations so western-looking even when the people are supposed to be Asian? Just wondering . . . I signed up then fate got in the way and I feel like I've just had a miscarriage. (Sorry, that was crude, but that's how I feel). I want to sign up for next year. I already have my print half done (the one I was going to do for this year's exchange). I have a Mac and I don't understand the procedure. Could you explain it step by step for people like me. The only way I've ever understood to send things is through attachments (and I learned that one from you), so I'd appreciate another lesson. I sent a posting the other day about webpages and pointed out that Fetch is the freeware for transferring data (ftp) which stands for File Transfer Protocol. James was right, it was definately worth the wait- everyone's print looks great and displays a wonderful assortment of talent. Ray- yours definately does NOT suck. That's all I'll say for right now- just wanted to whet the appetites just a little more. I really look forward to reading about each print and asking the "how you do dat?" questions. I will strap on my life preserver and wait for the e-mail "ohhh n' ahh" deluge to begin. Those who didn't get a chance to join, be patient. - -John ------------------------------ From: Wanda Robertson Date: Thu, 04 Mar 1999 09:33:54 -0700 Subject: [Baren 3378] Re: St. James James G Mundie wrote: > Bless you, my son.
