Dave, I want to buy a chisel and hammer. I saw that the smallest size (in McClain's) is up in the $90 range. Are they all this expensive? If you were to buy one to use for woodblock prints, say no larger than 8 l/2 by 11, what size chisel would be the most practical? Since I can afford only one for now, it has to be the best size. Thanks, Gayle ------------------------------ From: Elizabeth Atwood Date: Mon, 12 Apr 1999 11:01:50 -0400 Subject: [Baren 3962] Re: Baren Digest V7 #521 Oban Paper Thank you >>Do you know where I can find >>this paper? The tool I use to clean out the large areas is a shallow U-gouge 15mm Asagata maru nomi (Asamarunomi- according to Noboru Sawai) I have another size 9mm which I find equally useful For your smaller size plates this is the one that would be quite suitable. The McClain's I have shows it at 66.35 The price here is 76.00 can$ about $50.00 us$ These I will have here at the workshop thanks to Noboru Sawai. I am working on the material list for the workshop, and will have it this week. I've not seen them in person, and cannot judge the quality, but they sound good in description. Their price on mallets is also much lower. I think they are listed in the supplies section of the Encyclopedia. I was wondering about your address, I thought perhaps you were in Soho, New York City! I guess not! I got home today to find a nice surprise, Gayle's delightful print in my mailbox. 30 more lucky participants in the first exchange are in for a treat, too. And of course, we will all see it on the net when Dave has time to add it in! Thank you all! (I won't say what it is, but it's very funny!)
