Currently what paper I have is in tubes. I'd love to store it flat; I want a map drawer, or better yet, something cheaper. I haven't started looking or constructing yet. Any suggestions? --GV ------------------------------ From: "Jeanne N. Dave recommended a book called "Relief Printing" , I believe by Hudson? I cannot find the book. I have a book on Relief Printing but it does not mention this registration technique. Could you pretend that I am in woodblock printing 101 and explain it in the most basic of terms, step by step. Registration is probably the most difficult of all (except sharpening tools). I felt so competent with my pencil and my paint brush. I now feel like a real amateur. Maybe I will never conquer this media. GGGGRRRR Jeanne ------------------------------ From: "Brad A. I don't know how active the McMinville area is for auctions, but I got my USGS map file at an auction here in Spokane for $25. It has 6 drawers and measures over 6' wide and 4.5' deep. I had it sandblasted and powdercoated for another $75. And put a set of handles and big casters on it... :) Keep looking around, they're out there... Jeanne In case you think that Graham is very busy printing, I just wanted to let you know the reason that he has been so quiet these last few days, is that he is in Toronto, visiting family and friends. He will be back Friday evening, so look out, the net waves will then be full. There are several places around Portland you might be able to get a cheap flat file. Yet another idea is to check with your local Architectural firms to see if they have any unused flat files they'd be willing to give/sell you. Sometimes they update their furniture and end up with these things on their hands. What it would entail from you would be a $20 (discounted!) membership fee to Manhattan Graphics since you need to be a member to show there. I think it's a great opportunity to have your work seen by a bunch of New York folks, and April & I have agreed to help her with the exhibit, so all we need is some more of you to let her know you'd like to participate - Best to all of you - Sarah ------------------------------ End of Baren Digest V7 #562 ***************************
