Horatio, I have some questions. I'm interested in what tools you use, what size your prints are, and kind of ink or pigment you use. Your prints are full of energy. You have many different sizes of cuts which makes the work vibrate with interest. Tell us all about how you work on your pieces. Thanks. Your woodcuts are very impressive. I especially liked the portrait with horse. The horse and rider are communicating intensely. There is quite a lot of vibrations between the two, giving the animal as much humanity as the rider. Perhaps the horse has more humanity than the rider, because the rider is in a rage. The cutting is beautiful and professional. What a treat to see your prints! They have a nice variety and also have the traditional Japanese water stones for sharpening tools. The prices seem to be pretty reasonable too. Take a look...this is the URL for the sharpening stones, but you can go to other areas from here. http://www.cuttingedgetools.com/Onlinecat.htm/WebCatalog/sharp.html Hope everyone is having a good day! Shireen, I have tested these pigments and they will not work for the Hanga printmaking technique. The pigments are not saturated or intense enough to be effective with our printmaking. I don't know what the formula is but they are quite diluted compared to powder pigments or colourants which are pigments suspended in water base disprecent. Your print "Untitled 2" is my favorite but I'm wondering why there is a small white area on the left shoulder of the figure. The cuts you made for his right hand and arm interest me. Also, I love the twisting of the horns. Acutally, the entire figure seems very twisted and evil to me. What inspired you to create this print? I have boxes and boxes of tube water colors. Do you think they will be alright for Japanese printmaking. If I am going to start, I would like to start out on the right foot. Or perhaps , I could mix something with the tube watercolors to make them react better. What is you thinking on that?
