They say they are barens, but they really arent. However, Barbara was kind enough to find some at Daniel Smith (they had some in the store, outside what could be ordered). I got them in the mail this AM in time for my class at the Lower East Side Printshop. I don't know how Barbara, Wanda and Graham had time to think about it with all the excitement of the class going on. Everyone in overdrive, I guess! My class on East 4th street doesn't include bed and breakfast, but I am looking forward to it! Graham ------------------------------ From: John and Jan Telfer Date: Fri, 25 Jun 99 18:08:48 -0000 Subject: [Baren 4750] Re: Baren Digest V7 #606 Dear Kimberley, If using oil based ink the Graphic Chemical ink is the one I use all the time on dry Kozo or best of all Fabriano papers where the grain of the wood shows on the print. Don't over ink the block. I use a Japanese baren (with a piece of litho paper between the baren and good paper to prevent it pilling or rubbing off) and as I go over the print, carefully lift the papers to check that your pressure is even on to the paper. Clean up with dry newspaper before opening the turps or the vegetable oil and you'll have less "pong".
