[Baren]: The mailing list / discussion forum for woodblock printmaking. Baren Digest Wednesday, 3 November 1999 Volume 09 : Number 766 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Elizabeth Atwood Date: Tue, 2 Nov 1999 10:11:33 -0500 Subject: [Baren 6457] Dates Sorry to hear about Graham's departure from Exch.#4.....hope he will reconsider! He has voiced the same complaint which I mentioned back when we were setting the date....I think I was the only one concerned about the bad timing. As I was "overruled", I just accepted the inevitable. I wish I were not a "last minute" person.....so shall hope for the best. My thanks to Maria for taking on the harder part of the work. ElilzA ------------------------------ From: Graham Scholes Date: Tue, 2 Nov 1999 08:50:51 -0800 Subject: [Baren 6458] Re: Deadlines and exchanges Maria, I was sure you would have had a waiting list to call on. If you don't get a replacement for me then I will not drop out. I did not think that it was going to rattle the bushes like it has. You must know that it is time that is my problem, mixed with energy with so much on my plater. The comments re quality/quantity was an observation and will persue this in the future. It had nothing to do with having the ease out of the exchange. Graham ------------------------------ From: Vollmer/Yamaguchi Date: Tue, 2 Nov 1999 21:54:54 -0500 (EST) Subject: [Baren 6460] Exchanges I think exchanges would be more special if they were more spread out...maybe once a year. I'd prefer an occasional special effort to ongoing chores! But I DO have my print ready for exchange #4....I'll mail it out this week. We did agree to the deadline a while ago, remember? Maria, I had mail to you at mariarango.com returned....is there a problem with your server? April Vollmer ------------------------------ From: Maria Arango Date: Tue, 02 Nov 1999 21:49:50 -0800 Subject: [Baren 6463] Doctor in the house! A few updates to http://www.printmakingstudio.com site, all reachable from the Index page. You can now see A.David Crown M.D.'s beautiful work (mezzotints) in the Invited Artist's Gallery. There is also a new Engraving and Latest Works (a crossing, two Marias and a woodlady). For those of you that were interested in Reduction Prints, the whole process is explained in the Studio Notes section. This is an interactive section, by the way. If you have a particular method or technique that you would like to share, just send it to me and I'll upload it and give you full credit. I would like to not have woodblock contributions, since that is what Dave's site is for, but any other printmaking tricks and tips that you are just wanting to share, please send them right on. I will be uploading notes as I experiment and try new papers, etc. And I hope all the above works okay because I'm too exhausted to test all the links. Health to all, Mar--zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz ------------------------------ End of Baren Digest V9 #766 ***************************
