We can work and home and still have continuity that would come if working together. I vote for this one! Sounds like a fun challenge!...........ElizA ------------------------------ From: Pedrobot@aol.com Date: Sun, 7 Nov 1999 13:58:30 EST Subject: [Baren 6524] Re: Exchange theme Works for me. I think that would provide some really exciting results. So important that we often overlook it. I wanted to quickly report that Judy and I saw an enormous amount of hanga woodcut today. Arthur Dow and many prints by American artists, (Helen Hyde etc.) from the teens and twenties. Gustave Bauman, whose work looks hanga, but I think is oil base. And the famous Matt Brown was well represented! Sorry my memory for names is so hopeless, but Kunisada, Kuniyoshi, Hokusai and lots of Hiroshige were there, and whole packages of Japanese prints to flip through. Love those packs of shunga! But my favorites, some deeply colored shunga with lots of bright kimono patterns swirling around the essential stuff, were over my price range, at $800 to $1200. My other favorite was a Kunisada war scene triptich with a huge snake writhing over the head of the warriors. A bargain at $1600, but beyond my means. I did find the cheapest one in the lot to my taste, and picked up a nice meiji fish print by Kyosai (?). It is not valuable, but a livley design, a fish glancing to the side, with some long-legged shrimp and a turnip. I just can't believe these wonderful things are for sale!
