Bea Thanks for the original suggestion for a meeting. Yes I do live in "THE VALLEY" N. Hollywood specifically. Also good luck with your knee and recovery. Unfortunately my wife Phyllis is probably going to have to have that kind of surgery Dutch ------------------------------ From: Dutch Stowe Date: Sun, 14 Nov 1999 05:59:03 -0800 Subject: [Baren 6613] Plan now Ok here we go I have outdone myself two communication in one day. Georga and So/Ca group It might be useful to start trying to put together a date now. In my experience trying to get a group together usually runs into scheduling unless you have a long lead time and setup about 3 to 4 dates for the group to pick from. The more I see this discussed the more excited I get about he possibility of actually meeting some of y'all face to face. dutch ------------------------------ From: John and Jan Telfer Date: Mon, 15 Nov 99 00:03:57 -0000 Subject: [Baren 6614] Re: Baren Digest V9 #779 Welcome to Nick and Margaret. Baren is an interesting forum and growing soooo rapidly. Dragon Cards idea....great. Every year for the last 10 or so I have been printing my own Christmas Cards...100+ for family and friends and for several years printed our work ones with a "work" theme or logo (up to 250). These cards have mainly been from lino, but last year because of my Japanese exhibition, carved it in wood and printed on Japanese papers...nothing is more satisfying than sending something "personal" and to do with the Christmas theme, and I think the dragon idea great. A little late for me for this year though...don't forget the Australian Contingent and at this time of year we would have to send ours air mail in vast quantities!!!! A5 or Business card size is also a nice format. How many hours in a day do Bareners have in America? You all must have "daylight saving"! Cheers, Jan ------------------------------ From: Date: Sun, 14 Nov 1999 08:30:12 -0800 Subject: [none] Hi all, I have been reading but not sending lately so I want to add my welcome to all the new members and my congradulations to everyone. We bareners are an active and sucessfull bunch it seems. I recieved word from a friend yesterday that one of my prints has recieved a metal from the Xlll Salon National des Artists Animaliers in Paris. I have also been included in Best of Wildlife Art vol 2 just released by Northlight Books. I'm feeling to pressured by other projects to commit to the New Years exchange (though I would love to carve a dragon). As I wrote that last sentence I am reminded of the fact that if I don't send out cards I will miss receiving the wonderfull cards from everyone else. I can't stand it, I have to know what everyone else thinks a dragon looks like. Count me in for the dragon exchange. Can someone repost the mailing address location for me? Seems I deleated it prematurely. Wot no pickies of the car printing? I guess you havent finished yet. I know another printmaker here in Sydney who wants to do a project like this. So I am very interested to see the technique and the quality of the print. I vaguely remember seeing an article about someone using a steam roller borrowed from their local council to do something like this. BTW does it have to be a Buick? ;-) Josephine ------------------------------ End of Baren Digest V9 #780 ***************************
