I have heard about, but not had an opportunity to use wintergreen oil to do transfers. Can you describe the process for me. It sells for about $11-15 a 25ml bottle. Therefore I have been reluctant to just have a go. Do you, or can you dilute it when you use it? Do you need to use a press or can you hand rub it? Much more information please. Everytime I have tried photocopy transfer it was not very successful, bloody awful in fact. At uni they used to say ot depended on which photocopier you used on campus. Maybe I just never found the right one. Have finished my dreamline and am scanning it plus some paper samples. Hope to have them all on-line later today. He seemed to be surprised that we (Baren) have this huge network of printers & that his & Elaine's business has been recommended so highly. When I told him that I had heard (from several people) that they wanted to sell the business - he compared it to that old game of "telephone" where you tell one person & that person tells the next, etc. Now, granted, George is a retired salesman & heck, he doesn't have to tell me *anything* but he sounded pretty sure about all this stuff. He did say they have a couple of inquiries about buying the business every so often, but that nothing had developed from those inquiries. He went on to say that it was a small business & they mostly stay in business to help out us printmakers. His response to putting the business on the internet was lukewarm. They really don't want the business to become huge & unwieldy and they like the personal contact with us artists. George asked me if I had seen Elaine's studio. I replied "No, but I've heard it's a really nice studio" and he laughed. These are such nice people to do business with - I, for one, hope they stick around for a lot longer. They are going to be closed from December 22, 1999 until after the New Year. They have family coming and they are taking the Holidays off to spend time with them. "And to miss the Y2K stuff", George laughingly said. He also said they had a rise in orders in November & December - maybe the rumor had caused that. I told him it might, but we have lots of new woodblock artists coming on all the time. So, keep those orders going into McClains! Message posted by: dimitris grammatikopulos Dear bareners, since i've watching all your discussions and enjoying all the little infos that fly around them , i feel obliged to share my part of knowledge on Asian Zodiac dragons. I the Asian system there are 5 elements: water(black),fire(red),earth(yellow),metal(white) and wood(blue). You may know all the 12 signs:mouse, bull(buffalo),tiger, cat(rabbit),dragon, snake,ho se,goat, monkey, rooster(chicken),dog and pig(boar). This way they get a 60-year circle. The 2000 dragon is metal(white).Heavy or thrash , we shall see!Besides that Venus is the metal planet,West the metal direction and Autumn the season.I believe this should add to your rich fantasy and creativity. I've attached a small work of mine: linocut,hand-made paper,8x11 cm , hand-pulled.Next month i must have launched my site and i will be glad to hear your comments.
