Some have ABC stores run by the government which is the only place you can buy hard liquor. Then you bring your bottle to the restaurant in a paper bag and they serve set-ups, which are 7-up or sparkling water, etc. Actually, I am not sure about this because I learned this before the age of 12 when I lived in the east. Who can correct me? Are any US states still dry states? It's totally wet in CA. Flooded, as a matter of fact. Except in CA you can't smoke cigarettes in bars. Horacio is right to try to find out a little bit about US laws before he visits here. Rather than repost the info here, I will forward you copies of our replies off-list. *** Haven't seen much comment here on the forum yet about the new SwapShop ... My own first swap package has arrived in Philadelphia, and the prints by now must be sitting in Jim's filing cabinet, just waiting to be distributed among the folders of the next group of participants ... whoever they are ... ;-) Dave ------------------------------ From: "Jeanne Norman Chase" Date: Sat, 19 Feb 2000 17:03:01 -0500 Subject: [Baren 8500] Links charset="iso-8859-1" My web site still has a few kinks in it , some of the links still do not work. The small (post-card) size, has to be less than 22cm (8 1/2") - does that mean it can be up to 22cm in width? Like square? I already have an image in mind for the swap, but I want to get my #5 done first. Well, I guess I could work on them at the same time - just stop sleeping that 8 hours per night. Actually, the swap sounds like as much or more fun than the Dragon exchange. Like a big grab bag of neat prints. So I sure plan to participate. I live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana but am originally from Rochester, New York. I am a printmaker who primarily enjoys woodblock although it has been quite some time since I have undertaken any major printing. I have been enjoying the posts and have not quite known when to chime in, but I will get the hang of this. Um, that is about it for now. I guess I will get my studio rolling again and start posting. thanks- peter ------------------------------ From: Aqua4tis@aol.com Date: Sun, 20 Feb 2000 01:07:00 EST Subject: [Baren 8506] Re: Update ... hi patty welcome georga ------------------------------ From: Aqua4tis@aol.com Date: Sun, 20 Feb 2000 01:22:07 EST Subject: [Baren 8507] Re: new member welcome peter georga ------------------------------ From: B Mason Date: Sat, 19 Feb 2000 22:36:11 -0800 Subject: [Baren 8508] welcome Welcome to new members, glad you are posting.
