If I print an edition of 50 prints, paper size 11"x15" with an image size of 9"x11", can I split the edition with one group staying the original size and the other group trimmed to, say, 8.5"x10"? #2. Anyone ever mix Aqua Kolor and Speedball water based inks? #3. Is it possible to use too much varnish on the block prior to printing? i.e. too slick and not very receptive to ink. #4. Is Santa Claus real or just a figment of my imagination? thanks folks, dan dew ------------------------------ From: B Mason Date: Tue, 15 Aug 2000 17:59:38 -0700 Subject: [Baren 10974] Dan's questions Dan: #1. If I print an edition of 50 prints, paper size 11"x15" with an image size of 9"x11", can I split the edition with one group staying the original size and the other group trimmed to, say, 8.5"x10"? Yes, write on the back of the prints that the paper is in two sizes, documenting how many of each size.. #2. Anyone ever mix Aqua Kolor and Speedball water based inks? No #3. Is it possible to use too much varnish on the block prior to printing? i.e. too slick and not very receptive to ink. Just sand it with 600 sandpaper and water, that should fix it. #4. Is Santa Claus real or just a figment of my imagination? Real. There you go. Last week on Ebay I saw a little desktop 'press' - nothing more than a couple of steel rollers mounted in a frame, kind of like the 'mangle' on top of an old-style washing machine. http://woodblock.com/temporary/roller_press.jpg I missed the auction unfortunately. Anybody know where I might pick up one of these things? I'm not interested in using it as a press for printing, but as a tool for flattening overly thick paper before printing starts. If it works I do it since nobody stops me, but I am a risk taker and am curious.
