Baren Digest Wednesday, 20 December 2000 Volume 13 : Number 1252 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: B Mason Date: Tue, 19 Dec 2000 21:30:54 -0800 Subject: [Baren 12559] presses I just got a new catalog from Takach Press, this is probably the best one in the US, their table top etching press is $3130 18x36", $3360 24x36", $3590 24x48" They have a great reputation and I have used their press, it is excellent. Takach Press corp 1-800-248-3460 3207 Morningside NE Albuquerque NM 87110 I found my catalog from Conrad, prices are as follows for tabletop models: E9 9x18" $650 E12 12x24" $825 E15 15x30" $1235 E18 18x44" $2195 E24 24x48 or 24x53" $3295 There are also lots of add ons to the Conrad presses, like different beds, micrometer guages and so on. Conrad makes the American French tool press, which has an excellent reputation. I am sure they made the press I have and love. I would like to know, because I don't open attachments unless I know why they are attached. Hi All! Your idea for an exchange sounds kind of quirky and fun, Dimitris. Could produce some interesting results... And I do like the idea of a coordinated exchange with Print Australia. Great possibilities for a really solid exhibition, don't you think? I've been getting some slithery guests in the mail! I think it's got my postman guessing. Thanks to all of you who are so on the ball! I'm hoping to get mine out very soon--I've been tied up with teaching and finals, and (finally) finishing up my degree! :) So I have to admit, I'm celebrating a bit and being a slacker for a few days to enjoy time with family and friends, and celebrate the season, and so on. The paper's ready, the plate is almost done, now all I need is a tiiiiny bit o'time to do the final run. Thanks for all of the great info about presses lately. I've been keeping an eye out myself and have almost decided to go with a Takach, but finances seem to be prohibitive just yet. (You know, expensive taste--copper penny budget.) Maybe I'll have to take a closer look into the Dick Blick press. It sounds like it might fit the meager budget of a 'poor art student' a little better.
