Looks like masonite, but is smooth & very stiff? I have some barn doors with that stuff on it - it really holds up to the weather, but I don't think I'd want to carve on it. Wanda I don't know, I know they use it for furniture and for the back boards on the pads you see hanging in football stadiums etc. give me a month or so and I should be able to let us all know. It is tough. I don't know how else you can keep the mildew from forming in a damp climate. Did you have your bleach solution mixed strong enuf? I can usually get it all out that way. Juan, ............. ...... in Mexico you must understand Portugese. ........ thank you for writing, it helped a lot (;-)) Obliged?, Murilo Flowercity......right? Sorry for the silliness. I'm still thinking about printing with house paint on tyvek, we may be onto a whole new invention in block printing here. I think we just have it way too easy in the USA - everything handed to us on a silver platter. And now that we have the Baren Mall, we even have access to the materials that we need from Japan! Speaking of the Mall - I ordered some of that "Neri-zumi" stuff - and boy oh boy is that *black*. I mean intense, velvety black! Black-hole black! I think my next black & white print will be printed with that stuff. It is listed in Matsumura-san's section under "Pigment Miscellaneous" Speaking of Pigment Miscellaneous - I printed my #8 print with some of Matsumura san's pigments (generously given to the boot camp participants by David Bull) & they are truly a joy to work with. I am hooked on the dry pigments for sure. When you get #8 (soon!) let me know what you think of the colors. I'll be interested in hearing opinions. I then printed my block on top of it. It is both a print edition and a unique underpaint. I did not try to get an exact lineup of print and rubbing. I like the offset look. Another way that gives a unique quality is painting with watercolors on the back of the print. This works well if the paper is not sized. It doesn't matter if it is an oil or water based print. The color coming through from the back of the print is very interesting. Now I will show my ignorance, what is Tyvec? I had not thought of hand coloring my black and white prints. But I have a small series that is mostly just lines that I never thought was complete, what an exciting way to make them complete. This is a new project now for me. As a painter I will truly be combining the printmaking with the painting, how exciting. Thanks for the ideas one and all.
