It is through June 6, university of kansas. Sounds boring? well Wrong! It is a collection of etchings, woodcuts and linocuts from the midwest. Carter, Hull, Thomas Hart Benton, Grant Wood, grace albee, charles capp(wow)benton spruance etc. the museum itself was a delight some nice things, plus the ususal suspects, rembrant etc. (sp) and some very fine medieval carvings. iam always amazed that show titles do not reflect what is going on. Keep chipping! I, too, feel most comfortable using black and white or sepia and white. I love the contrast. Most of the gorgeous etchings of the past were all black and white. Most dramatic of all is a black and white woodblock print. You should do what you are most inclined to do for your soul. When you have your show at the Moose (?) Gallery, hopefully you can send us via the Show and Tell, some pictures of the exhibition. Everytime I use color in my printing, it seems to fall short. Just does not have the same strength. That is why I love to draw. Only a pencil and do not have to worry about what color to put where. Will be anxious to see your prints as I , too, am in both exchanges. My exchange for Bea looked pretty good until I put color on it. Now, I am not so sure. The one for Dan will be black and white, hooray! Happy Printing Jeanne N. ps. Are there any printmakers out there who actually take their work to a professional framer? I try not to, but I am such a lousy mat cutter. It takes me longer to cut and frame than do the print. Maybe I just do not have the correct tools. ------------------------------ From: Lynita Shimizu Date: Sat, 14 Apr 2001 16:05:17 -0400 Subject: [Baren 14174] Exchange 10 Exchange 10 has started and the woodchips are flying!
