Baren Digest Friday, 25 May 2001 Volume 15 : Number 1431 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: "Jeanne Norman Chase" Date: Thu, 24 May 2001 10:27:07 -0400 Subject: [Baren 14547] New Exchange charset="iso-8859-1" Georga I think Gayle and I suggested something like the "Occult", or maybe not to be too spooked, a little "mystery". Something provacative. I also like Barbaras suggestion re; flora. You could even make that a little mysterious, a whole can of worms. Think of the Graveyards that we have been talking about. That could be Mystery, and even Flora in a stretch. It would run a wide gamut. Of course we could do something like "Shoes". My ten cents worth. I have been doing so many violins lately that I would love to see how others interpret my same subject. What about "chairs', shoes they can hold lots of memories, history and character. As a non-printmaker, I figure at best I only get one cent's worth of opinion. I vote for this idea. Occult is very problematic as it can be intereated as a religious subject. With religius subjects what is ok for one might offend an other. would be hard to represent music but musical insteraments are another thing. In general i vote for flora-could even do alogorical subjects with that one. lol John of the furry press p.s. how about money as a subject ------------------------------ From: baren_member@barenforum.org (Margaret M. Szvetecz I like the idea of a exchange featuring a floral theme; I also like the idea of an exchange featuring a theme relating to mysteries and secrets. Either of these themes would facilitate various methods of working and also various levels of abstraction and/or imagery--a participant using either of these themes would readily be able to do work within her/his area of interest. I also think that a print collection based on either of these themes would be very evocative. Margaret M.
