I am teaching a class for teachers of elementary and secondary school teachers, Sharri LaPierre is also teaching with me and is on this list. We have quite a few projects for the teachers to learn and take back to their classrooms, but just in case you know something we don't, will you send me your ideas? I have already posted this plea on the printmakers list so I apologize if you get this twice. I got some good responses and decided to ask a few more people. The obvious monotypes and meat tray prints are covered. But if you have some other idea, send it along. We will be printing without a press of course as few schools have one. Projects need to be kindergarten and up, so covers a wide age range. Bless anyone who has a super new (or old) idea! Thanks and best to all, Barbara ------------------------------ From: "April Vollmer" Date: Sun, 27 May 2001 16:55:23 -0400 Subject: [Baren 14581] Amazing charset="iso-8859-1" Julio, you amaze me. Best of luck with the show! ------------------------------ From: Studio Dalwood Date: Mon, 28 May 2001 20:25:24 +1000 Subject: [Baren 14582] Exchange #11 Hi Everyone I'm hoping to be able to join the #11 exchange, life permitting, and would like to comment re theme. My personal preference from the suggestions so far is the floral one. Perhaps it could relate to floral emblems representing the geographical diversity of bareners, eg the state flower for NSW is the Waratah. Or take it further than mere illustration of the flora and add another conceptual layering eg. metaphor, myth or psychology. My two cents. My thanks to Julio for all his hard work and efforts in putting together Chicago for us! How about taking Dean's idea of art materials, and expanding it to the "essence, or spirit, of making art" - the embrace of the materials, the image within the wood or metal, the passion of the paper, etc." I don't mind the first sentence....looks like my streak is going to end at nine exchanges...so perhaps I can start a new one with #11 {;-) I like Dean's idea of printmaking materials, but perhaps expanded a bit to the essence of "printmaking"...materials, tools, paper.....anything that reflects our work, technique and the soul of the printmaking artist. And I know what's involved having organized many exhibitd for the Quebec printmakers Council and other artist collectives! The pictures are great and they show the care that was taken in putting the work on the walls. (Re the picture with your son: it's good to draft the kids early on to help in organizing and putting up the shows. If he wants to be an artist he has a headstart on the other ones who don't know all the work involved in presenting work to the public!)
