No, I've never taught workshops, although I have given talks about my work. I'm glad you enjoy my website, though. I would like to suggest that we limit the prints to either horizontal format or vertical format. That seems to make a much nicer presentation when they are hung in the exhibits around the world. What do the rest of you think? For those who are not aware of the Baren archives- all of the digest entries (except After 5) are stored at . I am going back to school (in printmaking) this summer and in addition to owning my own business and being a dad for two small boys, I must abdicate my responsibilities. This duty takes less than 5 minutes of your time per day. It would be nice if the candidate would have some previous FTP and html experience, however, we will certainly be happy to train you. I will admit that this is one of those 'unsung hero' positions, but if you have gained a lot of information from Baren, this would be your opportunity to give something back to the group. Gregory (also Maria) Just read your post and it reminded me of "The Triumphal Arch", that Durer did for the Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian 1. It consisted of 192 woodcut prints. It was 11' high and 10' feet wide. It was a single theme of Maximilians triumphs and his family. Quite impressive. You have probably read about this accomplishment already but I just found it in a new book of Durer's. After this monument of woodcuts, he embarked on another such feat. "The Triumphal Procession", It was going to have 208 woodcuts joined to = make a long procession. Unfortunetly, Durer completed 139 of them . But = even so the abbreviated procession, when it was finally published in = 1526 , stretched 180 feet. Yes, let us do something like this on a grandiose scale! I am in. Maria, This should interest you. In case you have not seen this accomplishment. I would be glad to scan it and put it on my web site so you could see it. Jeanne N. From: "Maria Arango" Date: Thu, 31 May 2001 12:16:09 -0700 Subject: [Baren 14622] RE: Collaboration idea Predictably...I'm in! This sounds like an intriguing and challenging idea. Collaboration makes us find out something about ourselves that we did not know before; I find this self-discovery through art so addicting and enchanting. Also, I think undertaking subjects of importance (religion being one of the utmost, whether a believer or not) is sobering to some of us that slide into playful exercises from time to time. Someone on the list commented that they were more impressed by collaborative works than individual ones and I tend to agree. To coordinate this would be of huge proportions and I trust, for those of you who don't know him, that Gregory Robison is the man. One suggestion, I think we should keep the comments ON list. Makes for exciting conversation. I AM IN!!! did I already say that?
