Baren Digest Wednesday, 6 June 2001 Volume 15 : Number 1447 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: "April Vollmer" Date: Wed, 6 Jun 2001 08:44:30 -0400 Subject: [Baren 14759] Saving Printing Grief charset Dan, thank you for the list of trying things at your exhibition, I especially liked the illegible entries, that is so true! I look forward to experiencing the list myself soon. My show opens June 28, details on my website. I vote for the kama sutra! I also like Dan's idea of art materials, those dumb material objects we somehow magically make into art. But MAINLY, I wanted to say I just ordered paper samples from Baren Mall. $6 for a FABULOUS list of papers. I've been buying the $7 plastic barens, a great deal, and they make my job teaching SOOOOO much easier. Now I realize the Baren Mall is also hands down the best place for a variety of papers sized for hanga. They even have hanshita paper! Save yourself some printing grief by using good paper! Check it out, $6 for all those samples is a great deal. Whoever is missing theirs, please let me know offllist and I'll make sure you receive it. By the way, this is my favorite of all our exchanges not only for the beauty of the prints and the subject of Endangered Species, but the size, almost square, adds a charm I had not expected when viewing them all together. You don't have to stand back from them to see how the designs "come together". I'm extremely impressed. Fumi, thank you for putting them up on the Exchanges pages. Wow, Julio, a Baren get together would be great, but Jim and I will just have gotten home from our camping trip up north when we'd need to set out again. But, maybe if we can plan to come home sooner and get a couple things done in the gardens, we could slip over to Chicago. Jim wants to stop in Chicago on the way home from the trip, but we'd be rolling in like a pair of wrinkled vagabonds in hiking boots and jeans! Gosh, it would be great to meet everyone, though! I hope you can get it planned before we leave on June 12, so I know for sure the date, time, and place. Welcome new members.
