Some people mentioned that to hang the exchange prints as an exhibit it is helpful to have the same orientation and people preferred a vertical orientation. Haiku came up several times as a way to integrate many ideas. And the Baren Exchange # 11 winner is - Flora 11 Runner up - (good for the next Themed exchange) - Music 8 and all the rest -wonderful ideas to be integrated as you wish Children's Stories/Fantasy 6 Mysteries of the Sea 6 Nudes 6 Exchange #11 will open for enrollment July 1st. Theme: Flora Paper dimension: o-ban size - vertical or horizontal orientation. Cut/Print have fun, Bea Gold Just as a reminder here is the Exchange quote from the barenforum.org that Dave wrote many exchanges ago: Themes: Members have shown great interest in both options - having a theme for the exchange, and in being allowed to make a print on their own topic. In response to this, a policy of alternating between 'open' and 'themed' exchanges has been instituted. Odd-numbered exchanges are themed; even-numbered exchanges are open. Paper size: This also is a point on which a wide range of opinions has been registered. The early exchanges alternated between two fairly standard paper dimensions, but with the question of theme already alternating in such a fashion, the paper dimension question works on a three-way rotation. chu-ban size - 22 x 27 cm (8 1/2 x 10 1/2 inches) o-ban size - a range of 10 x 15 inches (25.4 x 38 centimeters) to 10 1/2 x 15 1/2 inches (26.6 x 39.4 centimeters). 'other' size 'Other' will vary each time, in order that members have a chance to make prints in various interesting formats. ------------------------------ From: Laohuxu@aol.com Date: Fri, 8 Jun 2001 15:16:39 EDT Subject: [Baren 14787] Exchange #9 prints Just wanted to say that I received my set of Endangered Species prints and they are wonderful. This was my first successful exchange--I had to drop out of the Ju nin to iro exchange, unfortunately--and it was so exciting to be a part of such a brilliant collection. Since I've been (mostly) lurking for some time, I just wanted to also say what a wonderful and inspirational list this has been for me. Even if I don't find the time to make prints as often as I'd like, the discussions keep me feeling as if I'm still somehow part of the print world, even if on the periphery. Thanks to all. I certainly will bring the set to school to show them to my art students so as to inspire them as well. As for the postage, I'll send a money order to you a.s.a.p.. Thank you once again. ------------------------------ From: Lynita Shimizu Date: Sat, 09 Jun 2001 08:53:20 -0400 Subject: [Baren 14790] Exchange 10 For the past two weeks, I've been trying to receive confirmation that all members who signed up for Exchange10 are still participating. (Have to let those poor people on the waiting list know what's up.) At this point, everyone except two have responded positively. I have yet to hear from Arafat Al-Naim or Cyndy Wilson. If Arafat and Cyndy are out there, and for some reason haven't received my messages, would you please contact me. Or, if anyone has word about them, would you please let me know off-list. Thanks!
