Baren Digest Tuesday, 3 July 2001 Volume 16 : Number 1477 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Cucamongie@aol.com Date: Mon, 02 Jul 2001 11:52:46 EDT Subject: [Baren 15036] April's show Hi folks, I had the pleasure of going to April's opening, where she had large digital prints, some of which were done on Japanese paper, and some which were printed on mylar - interesting to see the different looks which the papers gave. The Japanese papers took the ink quite well, interesting to see the modern media on the "old style" paper. Also fun to meet Bill Paden, who is quite a character, and very knowledgeable. Thanks April! And everyone should feel free to stretch the boundaries of that category as much as they would like. It should make for some very interesting prints. This is the first exchange (since the #2 exchange that I signed up for sooooo long ago) that I have been able to get up (not so early) and sign on at my leisure. It was a nice feeling and I'm looking forward to the theme print. That combination of style & work is what makes these portfolios so interesting and so exciting. And we would be honored to have the #11 exchange shown in Brazil. With a name like Florianopolis - it would have to be a beautiful city! And how nice to be called "nice and enchentee". (Sorry, my type face won't do the tilde over the letters) You need to go to: http://barenforum.org/exchange/exchange_sign-up.html and get signed up. As of this morning (10:30 am Pacific Daylight Time) there are 19 hardy souls signed up for this exchange. I see many new names, and many very expert printmakers, too. So it will be an exciting group of prints, I am sure. Better late than never, they say, and I quote it quite often in my life. The show was very successful, Lauren sold 4 paintings & I sold 6 framed prints. YAY! We are both very happy! Now, got to get busy & make some more! By the way, 4 of the prints that sold were hanga & the show was mentioned in the local Asian Arts Newspaper! Neat, huh? Well, my arm is getting sore from patting myself on the back - so I'll stop now. :-) Here's the address: http://web-ster.com/robertson/streff and go to the bottom of the page & click on "Preview Party pictures" or something like that. Thanks for all the support & encouragement - you guys are the greatest! Wanda ------------------------------ End of Baren Digest V16 #1477 *****************************
