Baren Digest Monday, 16 July 2001 Volume 16 : Number 1492 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: GWohlken Date: Sun, 15 Jul 2001 10:33:25 -0400 Subject: [Baren 15181] Re: Baren Digest Clothespin Hung Exhibit This is for Georga and anyone else who is interested in an inexpensive way to hang prints in a showcase. If you string thin lines of cord across the windowed area where the prints are to be displayed and attach hooks at either end on the window facings where you will tie the cords, you can hang the prints across the lines with tiny clothespins that you can buy in craft stores. They look surprisingly attractive this way, and I will do it again for the the showcases at the Meyer Center next year when I do the combined Sacred Tree and Endangered Species Exhibit, as I have been given some nice sized showcases in the main nature center area where I will hang Baren's Endangered Species prints. The open area in the meeting room is where the Print Australia Sacred Tree prints will be hung framed, as they are the larger prints and will need frames. * * * I'm still hoping with this large print exchange we don't have to do more than 15 for the edition, and for me it looks like it would have to be a black and white print rather than colors for working so large. I enjoyed checking out Graham's website again for pics of "Boot Camp" and found a great description of how to sharpen a V-gouge. It is one of the mysteries of woodcut that has remained elusive for me after all these years! My show is going great, by the way. Many artist friends have come by while I'm gallery sitting, for discussions of changes in printmaking since the advent of the computer. The show includes my portfolio of woodcuts as well as large format digital prints. You can't beat the texture and color of hanga woodcut, but the digital offers great flexibility in composing and collaging, and it has been great to work at a larger scale. I want it all!!! I got a nice write up at World printmakers http://www.worldprintmakers.com/english/exhibits.htm best, April www.aprilvollmer.com ------------------------------ From: Aqua4tis@aol.com Date: Sun, 15 Jul 2001 13:32:59 EDT Subject: [Baren 15183] Re: Baren Digest Clothespin Hung Exhibit thank you gayle and everyone else who replied to my clothesline question this is very helpful georga ------------------------------ From: ArtfulCarol@aol.com Date: Sun, 15 Jul 2001 15:00:01 EDT Subject: [Baren 15184] Re: coming out of lurkerville Welcome from one Carol to another Carrel.
