Baren Digest Tuesday, 11 September 2001 Volume 16 : Number 1551 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Marco Flavio Marinucci Date: Mon, 10 Sep 2001 09:59:50 -0800 Subject: [Baren 15638] Ryobi vs. Dremel for clearing hey Gayle, the Ryobi is a great tool. Unfortunately it has been pulled from the market a couple of years ago and it is impossible to find, except on E-bay. I have been talking to a ryobi person and he has referred me to another company that makes a similar tool. I just required info from them. As soon as I get it I will let everybody know. I do not recommend the attachment for the Dremel rotary tool for I woild think it would not have enough power. I have a Dremel which I use for other things, and it is rather different. The ryobi was built with the carving in mind, therefore it has the design and ergonomics of the tool streamlined for pushing horizontally. very useful for hard and plywood where the grains run a t 90 degree angles. That is, ------------------------------ From: "Rudolf Stalder" Date: Mon, 10 Sep 2001 15:51:06 -0700 Subject: [Baren 15639] Large Print Exchange/rules Large print exchange: Dead line for both exchanges is the 28-Feb-02, the date when the prints are supposed to be with me. Identical deadlines allow single shipping. The exchange will include packages containing about 25 or 50 prints resp. weighting about 7 or 12 pounds. Mailing costs are up to $ 20 within the U.S. and up to $ 30 from abroad. Recommendations in regard of packing, size, mailing, insurance, custom declaration etc. will be given later, including suggestions and rules resulting from the inquiry planed by Bea Gold. I think to send a first e-mail mid December this year, asking for a progress-report, and put the result on the web. Later I shall ask for confirmation that all exchange-conditions are met. Prints should not be shipped, if this confirming email has not be sent off. I think the addressed exchange-problems are substantial. Starting in the studio they likely continue at the post-office - which may not provide best mailing advice when arriving with the prints at the last moment in the attempt still to meet the deadline - and will then infallibly hit the coordinator and all the participants. - - Once my way to the post-office was a short walk around the corner. Mailing and eadlines ? No problem ! - Now it is a ride of six miles with the pick-up track, and if something is going wrong there are 25 miles to drive. - Mailing and deadlines ? Eventually a serious problem ! Thanks to all the Bareners for the many very good suggestions so far how do proceed and what rather not to do in relation to the up-coming exchange. I shall forward all of them to Bea to support the creation of a valuable document. best day for everybody Rudolf ------------------------------ From: FurryPressII@aol.com Date: Tue, 11 Sep 2001 07:42:56 EDT Subject: [Baren 15640] Re: Ryobi vs. Dremel for clearing check out the magazines for wood carvers they have advertizements for all different types of carving tools including tools like the ryobi ahd generially a wide seclection of all sorts of things many of which you will find useful and not generally available in art wsupply stores john of the furry press ------------------------------ From: FurryPressII@aol.com Date: Tue, 11 Sep 2001 07:50:35 EDT Subject: [Baren 15641] Re: Large Print Exchange/rules you are on my short to do list please send info as soon as convient 25 copies? have two projects ahead of this one and will start work on it during Oct. john of the furry press ------------------------------ End of Baren Digest V16 #1551 *****************************
