Here at PA we maintain a friendly environment of trust and mutual respect where we can all discuss printmaking, art and related activities and mutually benefit from the interaction. As in all families, membership implies an intent to do the right thing by your fellow members. Up until now we have had few problems with members betraying our trust. Today I have the unpleasant task of advising you that I have been forced to unsubscribe a member for doing exactly that. This follows the careful examination of two years of correspondence with him, and consultation with various members of both this list and the baren committee. I have just unsubscribed dimitris grammatikopulos Dimitris entered three PA exchanges. Those of you who have received copies of his prints will know that he has consistantly refused to follow exchange criteria with respect to size and suitability of prints, and that he has been chronically late, sometimes holding up exchanges (either here or on baren) for as long as two months. What you may not know is that Dimitris has also refused to pay the postage and other costs involved in participating. He currently owes Print Australia $175 USD in costs. I believe the baren committee is looking into the extent of his indebtedness with them. My investigation has revealed a trail of lies and deceit. We are happy to help out members who are having difficulties joining in and have, to date, subsidised several people with exchange participation due to hardship. What is at issue here is the dishonesty with which Dimitris has treated PA members. To enter one exchange and request assistance with funds is one thing, to enter 7 or 8 - affording the material costs and outgoing postal costs - and then to refuse to pay return postage, is another. In short I have given him every opportunity to do the right thing but he persists in being dishonest with me and therefore with you. I trust that you will support me in this action. I just regret that we didn't catch him sooner. We will be removing his work from the Print Australia archives and from any further exhibition either on-line or in real life. regards Josephine Severn (List owner, Print Australia) ------------------------------ End of Baren Digest V16 #1561 *****************************
