If it is indeed base, you would use it to make lithography and etching ink more transparent. You will still get good color, but it will be more of a trasparent color, so it will layer over itself, blue and yellow making green instead of blue sitting on top of yellow and no green showing. How much you use is trial and errorr. I just printed my print for #11 and I used a lot of base and just a little color as I was after a very delicate transparent look. But I usually use 1/2 base to 1/2 lithography ink. This is Graphic Chemical's Handschy Lithography ink, other inks may not have as much pigment and it may be too much base. Let us know how it turns out for you....I bet you use that 5# can up in no time, I use one every 6 months, at least.
