Is there something I should know about this? Many fine points were brought forth and also the many limitations of the current medium. Tyrus, Bill, Maria, Jim and many others brought up some very interesting discussion. While is certain that the Barenforum.org site has helped many of us get started in woodblock printmaking...or at least provided solutions for others....there is that personal face-to-face, real-time connection that still is out of reach. Many of us use the exchange prints as learning tools...as no PC screen can accurately convey the feeling of holding a real print at hand. While we may not be there yet.....David's webcam setup in his studio is another great step toward the day when we can really communicate face-to-face. http://woodblock.com/webcam/ Real time audio & video are a reality and I can see the day when a teacher (printmaker ?) could be in real time contact with a cyber class with both students and teachers able to interact with each other. How difficult would it be for the BarenMall (or any other printmaker supplier) to put together a beginner's kit ?....a bit of paper, a couple of blocks...some brushes....inks....etc... and to make this product available to printmakers-wanna-be's class ? There are rumors that one supplier in Japan is working on a kit of pre-cut woodblocks based on famous japanese prints...complete with instructions on finishing the rough-carving of the blocks and how to print them. What about the current DVD technology ?....used as a supporting tool for an online course ? I think we are close! thanks...Julio (Skokie, Illinois) ------------------------------ From: "marilynn" Date: Tue, 6 Nov 2001 15:05:03 -0800 Subject: [Baren 16120] Re: Baren Digest V17 #1608 boo hoo. But it seems I have til Feb. so It will be a bit yet Marilynn ------------------------------ From: FurryPressII@aol.com Date: Tue, 6 Nov 2001 20:07:22 EST Subject: [Baren 16121] Re: Baren Digest V17 #1608 I will be able to do the work up to marketing the prints.
