It would be better and more efficient to post Baren 12 questions like this one on the Baren12 forum at mailto:baren12@yahoogroups.com -- I review all those postings, but don't always have time to read baren forum thoroughly... Also, you can be sure to reach all Baren 12 participants that way. (non Baren12 members can't post to that address... sorry!). I think you probably are using too much methyl cellulose. I've never had a problem with it. I think of it as a color conditioner, to make the pigment lie flat, not bead up during printing. However, I've heard experienced folks say they prefer rice paste, so there must be something to it. Nice to hear you made it to Santa Cruz, a beatuiful spot indeed! best, April ------------------------------ From: Graham Date: Mon, 03 Dec 2001 16:32:23 -0800 Subject: [Baren 16343] Re: Methyl Cellulose verse Rice Paste. I think of it as a color conditioner, >to make the pigment lie flat, not bead up during printing. I would agree with April.... too much methyl cellulose and possibly pigment combined. If you are filling in the small lines then another suggest is not too much (amount) pigment/paste and finish off the brushing to go with the lines and not across them. I know this is tough to do with lines going off in all directions. So it becomes the amount factor that controls this. >However, I've heard experienced folks say they >prefer rice paste, so there must be something to it. I can only go by what I have seen and methyl cellulose gives the same results as rice paste. I have wondered if it brushes as easily... or nicely.... or smoothly.... or what ever!
