Something about the microwave cooking inside out and the oven cooking outside in is my idea. I like the oven method the best, it seems to take longer for the thing to cool off. Daniel L. I found a set of them at a thrift shop for $5.00. They are radiant glass topped, about 12x18" in size and have temp controls... I use them for warming up etching plates too... You can put your lino on them for a few minutes on low and it keeps it nice and buttery... If the block is too big for the pan sit in on a cookie sheet on top of the pan. Also if you work with a heat lamp on your work it helps keep it soft. I never use heat, because I have woodblock tools that are so sharp it cuts linoleum like it was butter. Sometimes you will lose the sizing in paper if you soak it and rewet it too much. Arches cover is very strong and can stay in the water all day, again not recommended. I am enjoying the horses and snakes, too, and now that we are back from WI, I hope to get to printing my horses in the next few days. The Holidays offer too much diversion to get any serious printmaking done here at BareBones, but we can always try. :>) It was just in the last few weeks that I managed to corral all of the snakes and get them into a beautiful coffee table book. Everyone who has looked at it is very impressed! I think I will need a larger format for the horses, though - they seem to need more room to kick up their heels.
