Baren Digest Thursday, 14 February 2002 Volume 18 : Number 1719 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: ArtfulCarol@aol.com Date: Wed, 13 Feb 2002 08:09:23 EST Subject: [Baren 16959] Flyer for Firemens Benefit Hi I hope I am allowed to attach. this flyer. It is posted in stores and libraries. I have tried sending to just the group involved but that didnt work. I hope this does. We got good publicity in 2 local newspapers . Announcement and photo will go in again for the Reception. Opening day of the exhibit was fine, but. I am working on getting more traffic into the Gallery, short of the "hook" or beckoning through the glass door. Numerous signs are excellently placed in the Library. Photos will follow. Will take more at the Reception and tour. Those who viewed the prints were very moved and impressed that an Internet group, Barenforum, has done this All expressed how worthy the exhibit is. They knew nothing about woodblocks so I was glad I was there for explanations. I have them sign a guest book. Ask them to take a flyer and suggest they can put it up in their work place. One was sold yesterday - John Centers. Congrats to you John. Will keep you posted. I was hoping someone at Baren might be able to assist. I teach printmaking to a group of adult Aboriginal students who are interested in doing an exchange with other indigenous adult printmaking students from around the word, particularly North America - I am not sure where to start looking but I was hoping perhaps someone here might know who, what or where to contact ?! Thanks either way! Jo ------------------------------ From: "Jeanne N. I had an Ettan press, but would be open to suggestions re; another type of press. I was interested in the Praga. Anyone have any information about it. They are sending me the catalogue, but nothing like first hand info. from a user. PS. Finished my first print ;"The Year of the Horse", since the fire and it will be out as soon as I put the horses in their stalls (envelopes). Thanks for all of the encouragement from you folks!!!! I am sorry. First, the gift certificate which is wending its way to you as we speak, is already on your account in the amount of $750. Second, I have available for loan (or purchase if you want, later) a Polymetaal press from Holland. Printmakers Machine Company, as you may know, is a distributor of these presses. We have found them to be high quality, affordable equipment. I've really been amazed at the response to them since we introduced them in the U.S. about 3 years ago. If you are interested, let me know what size requirements you might have, and Susan or I will check stock to see what we can come up with for you.
