I was behind the door when quiet was passed out. A few words to those who get up-tight when the boys get snippy - remember, we can't see the body English or hear the intonation, so you are free to interpret in many ways! Pretend it is all in good fun and it sets better :>) Printing away, Pollyanna Sharri ------------------------------ From: Graham Date: Tue, 12 Mar 2002 23:29:17 -0800 Subject: [Baren 17490] This is off topic - delete Sharri wrote..... >I was behind the door when quiet was passed out. It's filled with his amazing woodcuts, many in b/w and a few in color. A good introduction also. It's about $25. ISBN 0-86559-193-8. His daughter Keiko Iratsuka Moore published a small manual in 1973 called "Moku Hanga: How to make Japanese wood block prints." I'm an old member who doesn't contribute much to the conversations anymore, but am definitely still alive and printing. In reply to the question about Kathy Caraccio, about eight years ago I attended a one day class on moku-hanga that Kathy taught at the Printmaking Council of NJ. At that time, Kathy was printing areas of color which she would then cut into pieces and make into beautiful abstract collages. If I remember correctly, she stressed the benefits of layering the transparent pigment. She wasn't a purist as far as moku hanga goes, but was very positively using some of the techniques as another tool in her means of expression. She has a printmaking studio in Manhattan ... I imagine April and Sarah know her well (?) and can probably tell a lot more. Anyway, a quick google search brought up the following web site: http://www.nationalacademy.org/instruct23.htm Best wishes, Lynita ------------------------------ End of Baren Digest V18 #1761 *****************************
