Baren Digest Monday, 29 April 2002 Volume 19 : Number 1813 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: "marilynn smih" Date: Sun, 28 Apr 2002 10:35:27 -0700 Subject: [Baren 17977] Re: Baren Digest V19 #1812 To Barbara and all, I really think the art process becomes personal. It is good to hear of other methods and some times to try them for we can grow from others advice and methods. But i have found what works for one may not work for another. I often carve a block for black and white and later decide it could be carved down again to allow it to be a reduction print. Yesterday I had my line drawing on my block and just sat with my landscape subject in view and carved as i saw fit, it was great fun and free. I have seen printmakers with every line dot and stroke fully plannned before they start and printmakers who draw and carve as it comes, it all seems to work. It has been great fun to hear how each of you plan and execute prints and i have learned a lot, thanks to all. Oh on a side note we had an orange moon last night in a dark sky rising along the sea of Cortez, yes orange just like the orange you would eat, I did not have my camera, but hope we get it agan tonight so i can save this wonderous image for reference in doing art. Has anyone ever had methyl cellulose mold on them?? I thought that was never supposed to happen, but it happened to me. I had prepared it to be rather thick; maybe that had a bearing on it.
