Subject: [Baren 19626] Help supplies need for moka hanga 

I have a general question to the Group. Irecently took a moka hanga workshop 
and am in the process of buying some tools and supplies. 
1. Has anyone used  the powder pigments you can buy through Baren mall and how much of 
each color should I buy.  ( 10 grams goes how far?) 
2. If I had to limit the number of tools to 4 , Which ones would you recommend I purchase.

Yes, I use the powdered pigments. And most are very strong and go a long way. I
think Dave has a list of his preferred colors somewhere in the baren forum. With
the new search capabilities it shouldn't be hard to find. I have: indigo,
vermillion, crimson (I *love* crimson) yellow, and a sort of royal blue color.
Plus black made from Sumi ink. With these colors, I can make just about any shade
of any color.

My favorite 4 tools are: a 6mm bull nose chisel (you can get the wood *so* smooth
with this), a 3.5mm u gouge, a "to" (knive) 6mm I think, and a larger flat u
gouge with a metal ferrule on the end of the handle - so I can use a mallet on
it. I use these a lot. I have a couple of other ones that I use occasionally -
like the little 1.5mm bull nose chisel - which is really handy to get in those
tiny spots, and a v gouge which I use rarely on wood, but more on linoleum. I
think it's a good idea to limit the number of tools and colors until you really
know what you want to do. Or until you decide you are really *hooked* on hanga.
