Maria, be careful cutting the keyblock and transferring it as you say on to blocks for the colours, because once you have carved your keyblock, then turn it over with ink on to the other blocks your "other blocks" will be back to front from your original block. It will work only if you discard the "original" key block and cut your key block and coloured blocks from the printed one you used. Alternatively, if you print on paper, fine Japanese paper and carefully glue the papers down with the design facing up and cut through the papers on to the blocks below. Does all that make sense? I transfer the key block to glassine or mylar (both work well and don't stretch, just a matter of what I have in the studio at the time) then replace the block with a blank one. In fact, that is my task today. Uh-oh, Jan: I have a hard time with this 'reversal' stuff sometimes, too, but I think Maria got it 'right'. That inky design from the original key block will transfer exactly correctly to another block just as she described. That's right, isn't it? :-) - -- Mike Mike Lyon mailto:mikelyon#mlyon.com http://www.mlyon.com ------------------------------ From: "Maria Diener (aka Arango)" Date: Mon, 23 Dec 2002 08:31:26 -0800 Subject: [Baren 20217] Re: Hanga Registration !siht gniod ecneirepxe fo sraey evah I airaM )-: <||><||><||><||><||><||> Maria Arango Las Vegas Nevada USA www.1000woodcuts.com <||><||><||><||><||><||> ------------------------------ From: Julio.Rodriguez#walgreens.com Date: Mon, 23 Dec 2002 12:01:19 -0600 Subject: [Baren 20218] Re: Hanga Registration Maria...sounds like your transfer system will work just fine, I think there is a million ways to get the job done and there is no right or wrong way....(only perhaps some a little bit more dangerous/toxic than others).
