Happy New Year to everyone. May our thoughts and best wishes be for all members, for their family and friends. May we have a truly great year. Printing on the Dave/John collaborative print is finally under way, and as I did last year, I'm going to try and post 'progress' images of each step, along with simple comments/explanations of what is going on. The first step (key block) is done, and you can see it here: http://www.woodblock.com/surimono/process/5/index.html We proofed it at 35 impressions, so it's going to take a couple of weeks. I'm working with half of the edition - a batch of 120 sheets - so steps should be appearing on that page at the rate of two or three per day until it's done. If anything isn't clear, please post questions, and either John or I will try to explain ... I do still use rice paste on the block w/it though in most cases. Akua Kolor stays wet on the block for a longer time than the pure pigment, if you use it on plexi for monoprinting it will stay wet a very long time (in case this info is useful for you, Charles). You can also use it for roll-up on woodblock. I have never used it on metal, I don't know what would happen. Susan does have a water-based intaglio ink now too, though I haven't tried her latest formulation of this. The first sample I tried was a bit weak in density, but she said it's better now. Check out her website at waterbasedinks.com for more info- best wishes Sarah ------------------------------ From: Cucamongie#aol.com Date: Wed, 1 Jan 2003 10:19:21 EST Subject: [Baren 20270] Black bear magazine? georga, forgot to give you congrats on the magazine! I find it works best on glass or metal if I prep it the day before and let it loose a bit of moisture. I could not find anything on your site referring to Lascaux. But I did a Google search and found their website, from which I found one distributor in eastern Canada. Cheers ....
