The literature I have about a workshop I'm planning to attend says he has taught at the Center for Book Arts in New York City, Connecticut Graphics Center, out of his studio in Brooklyn, and is currently a faculty member of the Manhattan Graphics Center. I'm looking forward to it. Yes, I am meeting up with Eva to do a hanga workshop in Berlin this March http://www.druckstelle.info/en/hanga.htm. I look forward to meeting her in person. In the meantime, I wish everyone the best for the year of the goat! I am sorry not to be able to send everyone their personal goat, but I posted mine at http://www.aprilvollmer.com/exhibit.html#news I chose a horned goat (the Chinese calendar doesn't seem to distinguish between goat and sheep) so I could overprint an Archimedes spiral: nature and structure, that's what I like! It was excellent and added to the techniques I learned when I took the workshop with April at the same place a few years before . She was an excellent teacher, too, and very perceptive in realizing what direction I was going in.(before I was aware of it) There is always more to learn and perhaps to break some bad habits. Take notes. But keep in mind that there is a time to do your own thing while being open to honing your skills. And stay tuned tuned to Baren ... What an undertaking. Very impressive results too! What an ingenious idea to use your car instead of hand rubbing!! You've inspired me--just knowing that it can be done! I hired him to teach at Conn. Graphics and Manhattan Graphics. I know him because of the grant I had to Japan to learn Japanese woodblock. He's a wonderful man and really knows Japanese woodblock. He's a pro and has printed for some wonderful artists. Take the course at MGC and I'll probably meet you there. I'm one of the founding members of MGC and do my own work there.
