Baren Digest Tuesday, 7 January 2003 Volume 22: Number 2086 ----------------------------------------------------------------- From: G Wohlken Date: Mon, 06 Jan 2003 09:35:05 +0000 Subject: [Baren 20315] Re: Baren Digest V22 #2085 John Center, I would like to know more about your "Old Goat 2" print. How many blocks did you use for this? I have fastened with a magnet it to our black refrigerator and it can be seen all the way to the front door which is a rather long distance. It is stunning and many people have asked about it. You captured yourself in a serious mood, yet I remember how easily you could break into a laugh, your whole facing lit from underneath. Nice print, John. :-) You, and all the other literate Baren-members must be laughing your donkeys off at my broken and unintelligible attempt at clear communication. In other words, Murilo, YES, you ARE in exchange #16! But we are holding you to your promise to complete your prints and get them in by May 1. OK? In day six of my New Year's water-only fast, I feel very alive, very clean, and very grateful. Thank you, Murilo (and also thank you to all other members for whom English is not the birth-language). Sometimes it is not easy to communicate. Everyone appreciates your participation, I am certain! Perhaps the confusion comes into play because the year 2003 is really the year of the ram? This is one of the explanations I received, anyway. So a ram could be a male goat or a male sheep - domestic or wild. I love the wide range of subjects, though, so it doesn't really matter. It's like getting a little surprise gift & always brings a smile to my face. I think mine will be Yoong Mhyen. Thank you to the people who have sent horsie cards- lovely things they are. And I have printed some more of my horses, and will be sending them out very soon. John, your "Old Goat #2" is very impressive! With this degree of expertise, you should have no problem at all with the hanga print! Although, I must confess I'm having some problems with the long narrow thing expanding & shrinking in length! Please don't let my experience scare any of you, though. I have this strange habit of making things more challenging on every new print I do. Sort of "upping the bar" so to speak. Whether that is evident to the viewer or not, I don't know. :-) A prosperous, happy New Year (goat, ram, lamb or sheep) to everyone! I know a little bit about each of your concepts, but want to learn more about "where" the ideas come from and how you go about developing such repetitive patterns and the final conceptualization of the image. Do you take your clues from nature and then expand on the geometrical patterns ? thanks....Julio ------------------------------ From: Charles Morgan Date: Mon, 06 Jan 2003 Subject: [Baren 20325] Old Goat received John, Your old goat print arrived today ... pretty damned neat, I say!!!!
