If anyone wants to try besides the ones who have already ask, please let me know. It works great with ANY gouache, speedball ink, watercolor .... Here are some of the prints created in the three day workshop in Ohio. The one on the right was my feeble attempt at gradation on a four block print. The one next to it features some first time print makers!!! I will have her move them and add the photos I took while there:) I just completed a six block cherry print. I discovered what I am sure most of you know,,cherry cuts reeealy easy when you soak it. Unfffotunitly I found that out on block 4! There is a wonderful clear acrylic spacer with double stick tape on one side (that you attach to the glass). You can find it at most art stores and frame shops. It's not prohibitively expensive and keeps the glass from, 1. sticking to the print as the humidity changes both inside and outside of the framed print, 2. provides air circulation during changes in humidity(see above) thus preventing mold formation, 3. prevents acid damage from the leaching of this material in the glass onto the paper. I re-frame a significant number of older prints where the glass is pressed flat to the etching etc., and the print shows foxing, mold, and the brownish coloring and brittle feel of acid damage. Here in the Great Pacific NW, we have alot of moisture which affects paper art (and the sinuses of those of us who are allergic to mold!). Hope this helps. Use damp paper, that will help. Use some of the "water soluble vehicle" that you can buy from Graphic Chemical and mix it with the ink. Add some extender to the ink. All of these things will help. Be sure your block is damp before you ink it to print, a dry block really soaks up the ink and makes it hard to print. Lay a piece of wet fabric or a couple or wet viva paper towels over the block for about 10 minutes. When you remove the paper from the block, peel it kitty corner and keep the paper very close to the block, do not lift it into the air at all, just peel it back. Also you might have to clean the block every couple of prints, just spray and damp wipe, then roll up again. OK...this is all I know to try.....a humidifier would help.
