Baren Digest Monday, 26 May 2003 Volume 23 : Number 2234 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Sharri LaPierre Date: Sun, 25 May 2003 11:19:16 -0700 Subject: [Baren 21579] Apology My apology for screwing up the list - I don't know exactly what I did wrong, except that I forgot to delete the rest of the digest after writing my response. Anyway, the update to LPE II and III is all at the website http://www.rst-art.com/lpe.htm. I tried to copy and paste the list of people and that didn't work, so please scurry over to the site for any information you require, all the parameters are there. I have too many woodblocks. What does everyone do with their woodblocks when done?. I s there a good way to transform them into new art? I think I probably won't ever print most of those again even though the edition was never fully printed. Do I just grit my teeth and throw them away? It's almost worth doing reduction woodcuts.. However, I am a pack rat anyway. I know Maria will have something funny to say about it. I do like the idea of a screen and Jean, the way you work in a theme your work would look especially nice as a screen. Maybe as a window treatment...cornice boards or something. Dave is probably picking himself up off the floor....but I do think if you never plan to print them, you could do something with them. Maria inks them, varahanes them and mounts them in a frame and sells them. Not a bad idea! A theme would be nice at least for LPE III. Today all the big things in life seem to inspirate me. (Larger prints need bigger themes, of course) What about the following alternatives: 1. "Friendship" 2. "Happiness and Sorrow" 3. "Day and night" (Or Darkness and light) 4. "Ups and Downs" (this is quite metaphoric and open, so it'd be interesti ng to see what it means to different people) Or 5. "The great Seascapes" (a good theme for woodcuts because of the fabulous Hokusai seascape series, and many others too) Also still waiting for use: 6. "Myths and mythology". There could be even several mythological exhang s, for example one for the oldest and most basic architypical myths, such a s paradise and then Greek mythology and other myths from great epic texts. For LPE II I've sketched something suitable for the themes 1 or 2. Is there many who have already carved or even printed? And, to other things; Is Baren mall selling and sending material everywhere in the world, or are most clients in U.S? ------------------------------ End of Baren Digest V23 #2234 *****************************
