Glad you all got some enjoyment of out of the woodblock guitar. And yes, he can and does play music on it... Since it is smaller and weighs less than his other guitars, he usually packs the woodblock guitar for any shows he does with his band, Insert Piz Here. The "homemade guitar" made is debut at a show on June 27th, 2002; see this page of the band's history for two animated pictures of Reuben and the woodblock guitar in action: http://www.thepiz.org/history02.html *smiling* - -- Love <3 & Lint * ! What I did do was to varnish the plaster cast & I assume that would work on the wood as well (but, I've assumed things before and been proven wrong). As the paper dries it shrinks and pulls away from the mould. To get the finest reproduction & maintain details I've first pulled & couched a sheet larger than needed and then pressed it carefully into the mold and kept adding additional sheets until I felt it was strong enough to hold its own. Usually this would be 3 or 4 sheets. Incidentally, drying can be hastened in the microwave - a suggestion made by a student many years ago, and it works! Dave - those hairs (and the whole print) are pretty fantastic. The card put on the site was rounded just to show the idea of the card... but don't worry about that. As for laminating the cards, I would personally not do that in order not to damage the cards. I was actually thinking about asking a tipographer how much it would cost to have a complete set of cards printed and laminated so that we would all have an artist's set plus a commercial set with our own design to play with. What do you think about this idea? Colleen Corradi - - Italy. ------------------------------ End of Baren Digest V23 #2241 *****************************
