John, A couple of years ago Lee and I went to Montreal with a day trip to Quebec city... the printmaking was amazing. We saw the wonderful gallery in old town in Montreal with hundreds of great prints, mostly etchings. There was also a wonderful hand book maker who we visited while looking for the paper store. You will have a great time... I cannot remember the names of the stores as lost my computer brains since then, but it was such a good trip. You will love it. Best to you, Barbara John, For information about print making points of interest in Montreal and Quebec City, you might do well to contact the "official" Quebec print makers organization: Conseil quebecois de l'estampe 7111, rue Des Erables, 3e etage Montreal, Quebec H2E 2R1 phone: (514) 525-2621xa FAX: (514) 525-2829 email: cqe#cam.org web: www.cqe.qc.ca ------------------------------ From: Myron Turner Date: Sat, 25 Oct 2003 11:49:44 -0500 Subject: [Baren 23210] Re: trip information wanted? If you decide to stop in Winnipeg, there's the Martha Street Studio of the Manitoba Printmakers, which is (I believe) the second largest printmaking facility in Canada, outside of Open Studio in Toronto. Winnipeg also has the largest collection of Innuit art in the world at the Winnipeg Art Gallery, which has a rotating exhibition of Innnuit prints. In Montreal there's a chapter of Xylon, the contact person is: Yvan LaFontaine If you do plan to stop in Winnipeg, email me.
