No reason not to use it, that I know of... It's naturally archival, as are
the other plant-based glues like wheat starch paste, rice starch paste,
etc, it will 'spoil' just like rice paste unless it's preserved
somehow... methylcellulose is more mucous-like than rice paste and I don't
like it as well, but otherwise ought to work about the same -- I think it's
the main ingredient in the much-discussed-on-Baren "YES" paste. also see

Matt, any place that has handmade-book type supplies should have methyl cellulose. By the way, after mixing it, I always keep in the fridge when not using it, keeps it fresh a long time that way.

best wishes

congrats to April and Ray on your successes - April, I'm sure you'll have some wonderful adventures while in Japan, and Ray, I'm sorry I'm not in the neighborhood of the Aleutian Islands to check out your show, it's sure to be wonderful, and I look forward to seeing images when they go online.

Thanks folks for your nice words to me also. FYI, there are now some shots up on the gallery website of my current solo show, including a couple of installation shots. It's hard to get a total sense of it (the gallery is filled with about 60 works including drawings, prints and sculpture) but you can get an idea! For NYC folks, it's up til June 17 if you want to stop by.

Here's the site.
