Robin, that Lynd Ward's book can say it all WITHOUT words is one of the many things I like about his print books :)

You should also check out "Wild Pilgrimage", it's fantastic. It's out of print but you can find used copies on sites such as abebooks.com.

enjoy!

best wishes

Me too, Charles!

Mike this must be very exciting for you...I'm thrilled for you from
here.
Make a s* load of money and become even more relaxed.
The "New Hanga movement".
Cool.
Print like mad, everybody.!..maybe the world is hungry like a bear for
some nice new prints, just when it thought it was tired of all that.
Mike, as great as he is, and Dave and Maria can't satisfy these
ravenous hordes....
All kidding aside, Mike, congrats. Japan, Holland...You are worldwide!

I have three of Ward's books plus the Abrams anthology I like the story
telling but some of the message is very dated. A lot of water has gone under
the bridge since 1929. Communism was hinted at in god's man.

Marilynn,
By George, I think you've got it!! That slick stick sounds like the
answer to our prayers. Woodcrafters has a catalog, and probably a web
site, so everyone can have one and you don't have to have a store
around the corner. I am going over there this week for some other
things, mainly wood, and will see if they have one in stock. Thanks
for the tip. All we sharpen-challenged folk have to stick together :-)

Sharri

PS - Robin, the book sounds wonderful. I'll be looking for it.

No offense taken, I've often thought about pursuing more education. Yet with
young children here at home, it's not the right time. Just finding time to
print and being inspired to do so at that time, is enough challenge.

Marilynn wrote: "I would go to the store where you bought
the tools and ask them if they have a leather strop or a "slick stick".
There is really no guess work with this tool because it has the grooves
already there to match the shape of your tools."

Thanks so much, I will do just that. You make it sound easy. As I'm sure it
is. Once I get over my "fear" it will be a snap.

Mike, Way to go!!!
