Perhaps some one can clue me??? Why can I get only the opening page of
Dave's comic presentation? Has my equipment become too antiquated?
I'm sadly missing all that you folks are talking about. Jealous.....ElizA

If you go to this page:
http://woodblock.com/manga/index.html
... then just click on any of the coloured 'link boxes' in the lower
section of the page, you should be able to see the files. You might
have a problem if you happen to have Javascript disabled in your
browser for some reason ...

But... You _do_ have to print them all, don't you? If you 'say' 1/100,
then aren't you duty-bound to print the other 99... eventually? What do
you think?

EDITION SIZE is the max. If a print sits in the flat file is it really
printed? sort of like if no one heard the tree fall in the forest did it
fall.?

I doubt if a collector would complain if he got a scarcer product for the
same amount of money. The edition size just means what the max. total of
number of prints possible of course there will over time be less of them due to a
number of factors such as; did the wife toss out the hubby's "junk", was
there a fire, or other act of god. Or did the absentminded printer forget to
finish the edition. Now if a publishing house prints a copy they call "hors
edition" and it somehow finds its way into a collector's hands, does it count?

Albrecht Durer or Hukosai never heard of the concept of an "edition"

Maybe because I was a painter, one piece at a time folks, no editions, I get bored fast with a plate. I have my next image in mind, wanna get carving and am stuck pulling roosters. THE GICLEE WAS CREATED TO MAKE MONEY. I would guess making and saving money are grand things when one needs to eat. I am the dreamer, the creator and have little desire to eat, I guess, cause i just make em, sell em, trade em and file em. Have no desire go backwards to reprint anything, how about forwards to create something new, so I can continue to grow and become a better artist. YAWN, those roosters better be done soon, I am a dreamin of a vision.

Dear Bareners,
You are always so generous with answers and comments to my questions on the forum, but the response from my latest question is fantastic.
The barracking with the Giclee printer (a former university screen/serigraph lecturer ) was lively, but there was a stalemate on my editions idea.
Opening it to Barenforum and then reading the answer/comments was most fruitful. It is an issue that has been bugging me for 40 odd years.
Thanks for taking the time to sort out an old dog trying new tricks.

2 cents:
Intention to print the number indicated is my understanding.

I agree with Barbara. The prints are not necessarily printed in order.
I've had a collector who was so pleased to receive number 1 and another
who only wanted a print numbered in the middle of the edition. Of course
there may have been no connection to the sequence of printing.

Tomorrow I will give a slide lecture--- including showing Maria's Puzzle
print, some Exchange prints ,911 prints, some Lefties Can Carve, talk about
Baren and have the brochure available. Also show the Biblical Woodblock
prints. (Not necessarily in that order)

Can this be done in about an hour, then have time for questions and
cookies?? Hmmm...

If one does start an edition, say 4 blocks with multiple colors and only does
a few, yet numbers them 1, ?? 3 / 16, and then decides to modify the color a
bit or carve a little away here or there, are the subsequent prints still in the
same edition?
