Hi All,
I wish I didn't live so far from San Francisco! So,
does it have to be a steam roller? What if your
plywood cover was nice and thick and you just ran over
it with a car? Maybe that isn't a plywood
cover...where would you find a blanket that size? A
steamroller makes for a much more dramatic event!!
Where is the world did they get such large linoleum
blocks and how did they make sure the cover board
didn't slip and ruin the prints? Did they practice
before going public? How did they all get inked up at
the same time? How many blocks were there? So many
questions!!!

Hi Lynn,

I don't have many answers for you - but one of our bareners did
a 4x8' print with her jeep a couple of years ago. I tried a search
on her web site but didn't come up with
anything. Of course, Maria's web site is a fountain of information
on almost anything - it's probably still there somewhere!

If memory serves me correctly, she and another artist carved a
big old sheet of plywood for the feat. I'm sure there are many,
many ways of doing it.

The making of the monster woodcut outlined here:
http://1000woodcuts.com/Studionotes/Monster/monstercut.html

Sorry for the short reply but I have relocated to Phoenix and still living
out of boxes. Amazing how much stuff I _didn't_ need from my former studio.

One of these days I will barge in the bar and tell the whole story, but for
now I need to keep working to find my stuff and also a festival coming up
this weekend.

Regards to all,
Maria
