Japan Foundation is sponsoring a west coast tour of the Adachi Institute which is involved in making reproductions of ukiyo-e prints. The free demonstration will be in the Commons of Pacific NW College of Art, 1241 NW Johnson, starting at 12:20 and continuing to about 2 pm.

Barbara,
I just received this from Christy Wyckoff. My work schedule does not allow
me time to attend but I thought it was important to post it for the group:

Hi everyone,
I want to invite all of you to attend the demonstration of
traditional Japanese woodcut printmaking on Friday, September 23,
12:30-1:30 in the Commons of PNCA.
Ms. Chiharu Enomoto from the Adachi Institute will be printing a
reproduction of Hokusai's "Cresting Wave off the Coast of Kanagawa"
popularly known as "The Great Wave" from the series "Thirty-six Views
of Mt. Fuji".
Ms. Enomoto will be printing from new blocks that are carved to
duplicate as closely as possible the original blocks.
The Adachi Institute is dedicated to the reproduction of Ukiyo-e
prints and will bring other examples of their work to the
demonstration. Their website is www.adachi-hanga.com
This is a rare opportunity to see authentic traditional Japanese
hanga printing.
Please come!
Christy

Be well,
Maurice Fykes III
