Renee's suggestion as "progress: the merits or otherwise" sounds like a
very good suggestion for a theme. It would certainly tax us to come up
with the image appropriate to the concept - and would provide an
immense variety and scope. My heart goes out to anyone who has had to
fight this fight. We went through it about 8 years ago, and the fight
goes on, although I think we convinced the county that it did not want
to put a street through our living room only because their street would
have to span two 100 ft. canyons which their street map didn't show. (A
county topographical map would have shown this, but they didn't bother
to take a look at that!) I made transparent overlays for the overhead
projector, my husband (an engineer) worked up cost analysis, and off we
went to city hall and made our presentation. The powers were so
impressed they kept all of our materials and we haven't had one single
lane built through the house, to date. I'm sure that eventually they
will get around to renewing the fight - but, it won't be before the
summit! Good luck to the good people of Damascus - the one big thing
in your favor is that, generally speaking, there isn't the money to
undertake these things right now.

Cheers!

hello everyone!
I just wanted to let you all know that last weeks hurricane was no fun! I live in Naples Florida and it made landfall here. I lost a whole week of work (which I didn't mind) but I lost a whole week of my own working!!!! (printmaking) I just can't take that. I print in one form or another nearly everyday and to lose a week was terrible. I was crankier than a chain smoker on a slow flight around the world.
However all my family and friends are fine and that is really all that matters.
I am now attempting my first Hanga printing!!! I am doing this in preperation and practice for the exchange 27. I chose a fine subject (my silky terrier)
Nothing to serious, only a 6 block 5" x 6" on unryu white mulberry. It is so exciting. I have all the block ready to carve. Images transfered and waiting for me TONIGHT!
Thank you all for your answers to my questions. I will have more to come.
Cheers, Rob.

I just printed the last color of my edition, so I will mail them tomorrow late (hopefully they will be sufficiently dry by then.) If I send them priority from Indy you should get them in a day or two. I must say, it's the print's fault-it wanted another color.

Hope you are having a spooky Halloween. It's our first born's 29th birthday-she came a week early to hit Boo-day.

My mail came today with quite a Halloween treat, the prints in Exchange
25. What a delight. I am humbled by the quality of the work in the portfolio.
Diane, you did a wonderful job in coordinating this project. It was well
worth the wait. Thanks for all of your hard work.

Well, I made a blog. Hard to believe someone as computer illiterate as I am could figure it out but it was pretty easy. I liked the idea of being able to post an image as my gallery site is all solarplate and not too exciting for woodblock printmakers. This is my print for #26 so if you want to be surprised, don't go look!
http://barbaramason.blogspot.com/
this was a fun print to do and was inspired by an image in one of my grandkids books. I hunted for a long time to find the perfect zebra and finally I found a photo on the internet to "borrow".
Since it is carved and reversed it doesn't look much like the real photo, but I thank the unnamed photographer anyway. The top picture is a little darker on the site than it really is, but as you must have gathered by now...I am not great at photoshop.

So Annie, you have inspired me to do this. I have really enjoyed your blog.

I plan to put a lot of solarplate images here also, but I will post here when I do woodblock to save you from wading through stuff you don't want to read.
Best to all,
Barbara
